Diverse Background

Mary was born in Dublin, Ireland, where she worked as an administrator in local government by day and performed in theatre at night. In 1994, she left the Emerald Isle and settled in Chicago where she studied Marketing at DePaul University and performed as National Marketing and Communication Director for Jones Lang LaSalle Development (JLLD). Also in Chicago, Mary took a new direction in her theatrical endeavors, entering the world of improvisation at The Second City. There she graduated from the esteemed Conservatory Program.  As she progressed through the program, she saw the remarkable correlation between the principles of improv and the skill-set required to effectively communicate, collaborate and inspire others to action.

Mary realized the art of improvisation exemplifies focus, communication, collaboration and agility. Recognizing these skills as key to the success of any individual or organization, she began to include improvisation techniques into her role at JLLD. She facilitated national training programs, assisted with change management initiatives and was instrumental in the successful integration of various cultures during three mergers. In addition, she worked alongside the President of JLLD and coached him in the preparation and delivery of global presentations and the change management initiative he was leading. Mary streamlined the change and transition process by developing national online tools and creating and implementing an employee communication plan. This communication plan was crucial to the success of the mergers and to employee morale.
